Floyd's Pediatric & Neonatal Response Team is ready 24 hours a day, seven days a week to provide quality care to newborns and children who need to be transported for specialized care.
As a part of our Level II Neonatal Intensive Care Unit, our transport team includes physicians, nurses, respiratory therapists and first responders all specially trained in the care of high-risk infants.
The team will be in contact with Floyd Medical Center's neonatologist throughout the transport to ensure our smallest patients receive the best possible care.
Infants may need to be transfered to a facility that can provide a higher leverl of care due to many reasons:
- Respiratory distress
- Intravenous fluid requirements
- Surgical conditions
- Low birth weight infants
- Suspected congenital heart disease
- Significant birth complications
- Severe neonatal depression
- Unresponsiveness to resuscitation efforts
- Infants of diabetic mothers
- Neonatal seizures
- Suspected infection
- Apnea
- Suspected shock
Physicians may arrange neonatal transport by calling 706.509.6518 or toll-free at 866.998.6428.
