Therapy

Physical Therapy
Physical therapy is for patients who have impairments, functional limitations, disabilities or changes in physical functions — including but not limited to posture, locomotion, strength, endurance, cardiopulmonary function, coordination, balance, joint mobility and pain.

Physical therapy is also used with a change of health status resulting from injury, disease or other causes.

Treatment can include a combination of therapies. These therapies may include electrotherapy, hydrotherapy, paraffin, moist heat, therapeutic soft tissue massage, functional mobility, gait training, splinting/positioning, wound care, exercise equipment and adaptive equipment.

Speech and Language Therapy
Speech and language therapists look at overall communication skills. This includes speech, language and cognitive (memory, problem solving, etc). Individual treatment plans are developed to improve functional independence with communication. Assessment services are also provided for patients with voice and swallowing problems. Treatment plans are developed to maximize the patient's potential for safe oral feeding and for improvement of vocal quality. Patients who are unable to speak, as a result of neurological event or laryngectomy, can be treated for development of alternative communication devices.

Occupational Therapy
The focus of occupational therapy is to enhance a person's ability to regain functional skills needed to perform daily activities in the home, community and work environments. Following an evaluation, a plan of care may include, but not be limited to: strengthening, coordination, balance, and endurance training; cognitive and perceptual retraining; designing and fabricating adaptive equipment, advising on modifications for home, work, leisure and the community and teaching techniques to compensate for loss of function with regard to eating, dressing, bathing, homemaking, safety, work and community skills.

Therapeutic Recreation Therapy
Therapeutic recreation therapy utilizes a variety of recreation activities in treatment to improve physical, cognitive and social and/or emotional abilities. Patients are instructed in the use of modified techniques or adapted equipment in order to continue pursuit of a specific recreational activity despite disability. Patients are trained to renter their communities by managing physical barriers safely and handling community interactions/transactions effectively.

Neuropsychology
Neuropsychology services are mostly needed by adults that have experienced head trauma, stroke or aneurysm, Alzheimer's disease, brain tumors, emotional problems, dementia or other neurological diagnosis. They also may exhibit attention deficit, learning or behavior disorders. Individuals with chronic pain and stress related physical disorders — including headache, ulcers and asthma — also may benefit. Services include assessment, psychotherapy, cognitive rehabilitation, family education, training and biofeedback.
