Each summer, Floyd Healthcare Foundation offers a traditional day camp designed to meet the special needs of young people, ages 6-12, who have diabetes.
Activities like hiking, swimming, tennis, volleyball, nature and crafts are provided along with educational sessions to help campers understand more about diabetes and develop independence and self-discipline in their approach to living with diabetes.
The funds for this program are provided by a Heritage Circle gift by the late Angelique (Kiki) Petrople, a pediatric nurse in our community who had diabetes. Her estate gift makes possible Kiki's Kids Camp each summer and provides funds to purchase supplies for diabetic children in need.
This year's camp will be June 4-7 at Shorter College. For more information or to request an application, please call Floyd Healthcare Foundation at 706.509.3290 or e-mail.
Scholarships are available. No child will be turned away due to an inability to pay.
