Picture Archiving and Communication System (PACS)

Floyd offers a digital, film-less imaging system — PACS, which gives physicians access to an electronic version of all radiology images except mammography.

With a properly equipped computer and high resolution screen, physicians CAN

  • Find images through the Physician Portal using designated workstations at each nurses station, all physician lounges and file room.
  • Compare previous images stored in the system
  • Access images anywhere with a Internet connection
  • Know access is protected and HIPPA compliant

With digital images waiting at the click of a button, physicians CAN NOT

  • Wait for staff to retrieve files
  • Travel to multiple storage areas
  • Deal with films that are too light or dark

Digital, film-less imaging is a community wide system for Floyd Medical Center, Harbin Clinic and Redmond Regional. All three health care providers use the same system to make it easier for physicians to access all radiology images.

Physicians may access digital images using diagnostic monitors at designated nurses' stations, in high film-usage areas or on any computer with an Internet connection via Physician Portal.
